Martha’s Community Farm is inspired and developed in partnership with a diverse community of supporters.

  • Located in Audubon, Pennsylvania on a 10-acre agricultural site, Martha’s Community Farm grows food not typically available through traditional providers, such as tomatillos, cilantro, and peppers. These types of food are staples of many guests' diets at Martha’s, and we aim to meet the diverse needs of our community.

    The Farm is powered by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and partner organizations.

Farm History

Starting in 2021, Martha’s Community Farm was born out of the rapidly rising need for fresh produce at the food pantry, and the desire to maximize opportunities and resources for our community.

With the help of our network of volunteers, we have been able to cultivate thousands of pounds of fresh produce each year with the specific goal of providing pantry guests with culturally appropriate food items that are not widely available at regional food banks such as tomatillos, cilantro, and peppers.  

Since 2021, the Farm has grown in new ways with each passing year. Martha’s Community Farm is now home to a perennial food garden, apiary, native food forest, mushroom growing logs, greenhouse, community hub, along with a continuously expanding growing area.  

Volunteer Opportunities

The Growing Team: This includes planting, weeding, tending, pruning, watering and harvesting.

The Facilities Team: From weed-whacking to building raised beds, this team makes sure the Farm is in tip-top shape.

The Engagement team: This team helps the farm communicate, connect, and expand our reach across a diverse and inspiring community.

The Operations Team: From general administration to fundraising, you can help us operate more effectively and grow as a community and farm.

 Farm FAQs

  • The ten-acre urban farm has four large garden plots, sixty raised boxes, a greenhouse, a food forest, a woodshop, an apiary and we’re currently rehabilitating the Farm building into a Community HUB.

  • All of the food grown at Martha’s Community farm is donated fresh directly to pantry guests of Martha’s Choice Marketplace and to guests in need of partner pantries or organizations.

  • The farm is open to volunteers Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 4pm year round, with visits scheduled by appointment.

  • We recommend using Google Maps to navigate you to the farm at 1350 Pawlings Road, Audubon, PA. 19403. Some GPS systems will take you to old St. Gabriel’s Hall since we share the same address. We are across the street from the old Hall. The farm is close to Oaks, Trooper, Valley Forge Park, Route 422, the John James Audubon Center, Phoenixville and Norristown.

  • Except for 4 staff, the farm is all volunteer powered and can use the support year-round of individuals and groups looking to make a difference, connect or get outside for something worthwhile.

  • Everything happens at the farm! A list of some of the main volunteer activities includes: planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, landscaping, fundraising, community engagement, artistic improvements and horticultural deep dives. We all learn a lot together.

  • Once you sign up, you’ll receive a welcome e-mail. For individual volunteers we like to give a welcome tour! These are generally on Saturdays at 2pm. We’ll provide you some more info for how to get here and what to expect. After that, we can schedule you for your first volunteer session!
